Introduction by:

Tom Hucker shows a selection of his own work starting from his high school years, as well as the work of others whom he considers to be part of the Studio Furniture Movement. He includes his own work in this movement which he sees as creating a bridge between architecture and design. His work in particular focuses on capturing the right feeling which is the primary concern in any creative endeavor. Making great efforts to learn his craft when he began was most valuable contribution to his work because of the process of learning changing what you think and in turn changing what you do. After a three years at Boston University, he studied for two years with a master craftsman who exposed him to Chinese joinery which heavily influence his subsequent work.
